22/09/2023 UPDATE - RECEIVED FROM LEE:
"Wanted to let you know the tool that
produces the LM3238 carrier is still available, so we are going to do another
run of these carriers to have available for sale. "
Lee Precision has exhausted their supply
of Load Master Carriers (LM3238) and they are no longer available from Lee
Precision.
480BC has sold out our supply and
both our local agents are also sold out.
If you can find one in SA, buy it…buy
as much as you can.
Luckily Load Master Carriers are
tough and if you look after yours it will last.
2 things to watch out for…
1. Do not overtighten the carrier on
the draw bolt! It must just snug on the teeth of the ram. If you do overtighten
the carrier you will damage the center part of the carrier and your shell plate
will not rotate freely. You will also damage your Yoke and Yoke Clamp.
If your Yoke and Clamp is bent, your
carrier will not secure on the ram and will keep moving.
Read this Blog Post for more info.
2. Carriers can snap at the Primer Rocker. If you have old primers trapped there, the force of priming can cause the carrier to snap where the Rocker is secured.
But the most common cause is your primer
seating depth set too deep. If the carrier stops on this bolt or a die it can
place too much pressure on the rocker and your carrier will break. The press needs to stop on the handle stops.
Check this video to set your priming perfectly.
If you want years of service from
your Load Master, it is time to start looking after them.
Keep them clean and well lubed.
Do not force the press.
Check your setup and make sure it is
correct.
The Load Master was in production
for almost 30 years. Lee has decided that it is not profitable to continue
production as casting equipment break and to repair or replace is costly.
The Load Master has been replaced
with the Six Pack Pro.
