So which
bullet feeder do you need to buy?
The Lee Bullet
Feeder options…
90892 BULLET
FEED KIT 30&32 CAL UP TO .60LN
90893 BULLET
FEED KIT 9MM .365 UP TO .46LN
90894 BULLET
FEED KIT 9MM .365 .46 TO .60LN
90895 BULLET
FEED KIT 9MM .365 .60 TO .75LN
90896 BULLET
FEED KIT 40CAL THROUGH 44CAL UP TO .65LN
90897 BULLET
FEED KIT 40CAL THROUGH 44CAL .65 TO .80LN
90898 BULLET
FEED KIT 45CAL .50 TO .67LN
Now which
one will work for you?
Now remember
these things are from America and the measurements are in inches.
The first
part is the caliber or maximum diameter of the bullet. This is the easy part.
30&32
Cal for 32ACP and 7.62 Tok etc.
9mm for
9mmp, 9mmK and 9mm Makarov and 38Special/357Mag etc.
40Cal
through 44Cal for 40S&W, 10mm, 44Magnum etc.
45Cal for
45ACP etc.
The last
part is the length of the bullet in inches, the OAL of the bullet only…this is
the important part.
Now convert
the inches from the bullet feed kit to mm:
.46LN is
11.68mm
.60LN is
15.24mm
.75LN is
19.05mm
.50LN is 12.7mm
.65LN is 16.51mm
.67ln is
17.02mm
.80LN is
20.32mm
Your bullet
must not be longer or in some cases shorter than this length. Note the part in the description that reads “UP
TO” or “TO”…for example 90896 will work with a bullet shorter than .65LN but
the next model 90897 will only work with a bullet that falls in the range of
.65 to.80LN.
Now let’s
look at 9mmp as this is the most common round out there.
Frontier CMJ
Bullets
115Gr Rn –
13.8mm
124Gr Fp –
13.4mm
124Gr Rn –
14.7mm
147Gr Fp –
15.7mm
147Gr Rn –
16.9mm
Silver
Rapids
124Gr Rn –
14.6mm
Bullet Corp
115Gr Rn – 13.99mm
124Gr Rn –
14.35mm
147Gr Fp –
16.35mm
147Gr Rn –
17.03mm
Now you can
work out that the first BF Kit up to 46LN is of no use to our most popular 9mmp
bullets. The BF Kit up to 60LN will be the most valuable to us; this kit will
work with the following:
Frontier
Bullets
115Gr Rn –
13.8mm
124Gr Fp –
13.4mm
124Gr Rn –
14.7mm
Silver
Rapids
124Gr Rn –
14.6mm
Bullet Corp
115Gr Rn –
13.99mm
124Gr Rn –
14.35mm
So in
closing, make sure you choose the correct caliber or maximum diameter of your
bullet then choose the correct model based on the OAL of your bullet.
And please
remember that these bullet feeders do not work for rifle bullets.
Hope this
helps.
