In my opinion, the best innovation Lee has made in the past few years. Here’s why and how to set it up.
Why…
In the past you had to buy 3 different case feeders (or parts for
them) to have a case feeder for small pistol cases, large pistol cases
and rifle cases. This made buying a progressive and setting it up for
different calibres expensive. Now not anymore as all new Pro1000 and
Loadmaster presses ship with the new case feeder.
If you were to buy a Loadmaster in 223 and also set it up for 9mmp the cost is now greatly reduced. Saving money is always great but when the new product works and is innovative it is even better.
This new case feeder ships with everything you need to load small pistol, large pistol and rifle cases.
This is what you get plus the 4 tubes not pictured here…
- The Case Slider Block
- Case Slider Riser
- Case Feeder Assembly
These parts are all you will need for any of the whole list of calibers this system can load. The list is long and can be found here.
How to set it up….
The Case Slider Block has 2 holes to the rear of the slider. The outer hole is where you will attach the crank slider of the Loadmaster or the spring on the Auto Breech Lock Pro. The inner hole is where the Z-Bar of the Pro1000 attaches.
For most of your pistol calibres you will use only the Case Slider Block but for bigger pistol calibres like 38spl and 357 Mag you need to install the Riser. Same applies for your rifle calibres.
The Riser attaches onto the block by loosening the screw on the Riser a bit and sliding it on top of the block. Now fasten the screw and make sure everything is flush. Simple.
Now let’s start with the Case Feeder Assembly. When you open the box the bolt on the Feeder will not be installed.
This bolt can be installed on either side of the feeder depending on if you are setting up for large or small calibres. Notice that one hole has a ridge in it to make sure only small cases will feed through it. The hole across from it has a plug installed to stop small cases from falling out.
Install the bolt in the bolt hole next to the hole with the ridge as shown in the pic. You need to move the cylinder a bit to get the bolt in. Now secure the bolt with one of the 3 nuts supplied. The other 2 nuts are then used to secure the bolt to your press and set the height of the feeder.
The Case Feeder is now set up for small cases, to setup for large cases you need to move the bolt to the other bolt hole and remove the plug. This hole where the plug was is now the hole that will feed the cases. The hole with the ridge in will now stop large cases from falling out. Simple.
Now add the tubes and case collator – if you do not have one, you need one. Fill with cases and start loading.
